Permit Information
Residential permits have a 15 business day review period
Commercial permits have a 30 business day review period
Jobs that require multiple permits may take additional time to review
Once the permit is approved the contact will be notified by the borough
Container permits are only valid for one week after the container is dropped off
Electrical inspections must be completed by a third party
If required permits are not obtained for a job, a stop work order is given until the correct permits are obtained at which time all permit fees are doubled.
When is a Permit Required?
The Borough of Folcroft requires a Building permit for the following areas and may, in addition, also require Plumbing, Electrical, &/or Mechanical Permits.
(Note: this list is for reference only and is not final):
a. Dumpster or Storage Containers (if left overnight).
b. Kitchen renovations to include cabinet replacements.
c. Bathroom renovations.
d. Any new or replacement concrete or asphalt work.
e. Roof replacement or overlay.
f. Water Heater replacement.
g. Heater and/ or Air Conditioner replacement.
h. Exterior door and/ or Window replacement.
i. Any plumbing work to the main sewer.
j. Relocating, Adding or replacement of water supply lines.
k. Electrical Panel/ Service wire replacement.
l. Addition to or replacement of electrical wiring.
m. Installation of new or replacement shed or fence (as per §600-102 & § 600-111 ).
n. Garden or Retaining walls over 18 inches above grade.
o. Replacement of Step(s) or Deck handrails.
p. Moving, Removal, Replacement, or Reconfiguring of non-structural walls.
q. Any work on any structural wall, beam, or other type support.
Permits are NOT be required for the Replacement of wood or vinyl siding, less than 100 sq. ft., installation of storm windows or doors, replacement of interior doors (unless size being changed or location being moved), or any nonstructural cosmetic work. Coating of existing roof or driveway does not require a permit; however, Installation of new shingles on an existing roof does require a permit, as does Repaving/ top-coating of driveways; in no case shall more than two layers of shingles be installed on a roof.
